Circular architecture has long carried powerful symbolism—from the Pantheon in Rome and the Tempietto of San Pietro in Montorio, to the Temple of Heaven in Beijing and Buddhist stupas. These archetypal forms, opening to the sky and embracing light as a metaphor for transcendence, have served as sacred centers of ritual, contemplation, and cosmic alignment.
This work reinterprets such circular typologies into a towering rotunda-like structure, where layered spaces guide the gaze upward toward an imagined world. Yet through this vast camera obscura, what appears as truth within is revealed from the outside to be only a confined microcosm—an illusion of infinity contained within finite form.
원형 건축은 오랫동안 강력한 상징성을 지녀왔다. 로마의 판테온과 몬토리오의 템피에토, 베이징의 천단, 그리고 불교의 탑에 이르기까지 — 하늘을 향해 열리고 빛을 초월의 은유로 받아들이는 이러한 원형 구조들은 오랜 세월 동안 의식과 명상의 중심, 그리고 우주적 질서의 상징으로 존재해왔다.
이 작업은 그러한 원형의 건축 유형을 재해석하여, 층층이 쌓인 공간이 시선을 위로, 상상의 세계로 이끄는 하나의 탑 형태로 구현한다. 그러나 거대한 카메라 옵스큐라와도 같은 이 구조 안에서 ‘진실’처럼 보이는 풍경은, 외부에서 보면 단지 유한한 형태 안에 갇힌 미시적 세계로 드러난다 — 무한함의 환영을 품은 유한한 공간으로.
