Op.17 is an architectural lounge chair inspired by Le Corbusier’s classic Fauteuil Grand Confort (LC2). The original chair is constructed by layering soft cushions atop a minimal steel pipe frame, where the structure becomes a column, bends into a beam supporting the backrest, and returns to the floor as a column again.
Expanding this structural logic into the scale of furniture, Op.17 is framed using fundamental architectural elements—columns, beams, slabs, and walls. Each component is joined without nails or tackers, using reinterpretations of traditional joinery techniques, and is finished through meticulous hand painting and assembly. Behind its clean, solid appearance lies a complex system of construction and precise craftsmanship.
The overall proportions reference both the Petit and Grand models of the LC2 and were fine-tuned through full-scale prototyping to harmonize with the human body. Armrests are left as exposed wooden slabs for a warm tactile experience, while the cushions are filled with a blend of goose down and microfiber, and upholstered in Italian leather—faithfully echoing the softness of Cassina’s original.
The Op series emphasizes conceptual clarity through bold, abstract color rather than raw materiality, visually expressing classical beauty through proportion and harmony. The name “Op” is derived from Opus, the Latin word for musical work. Just as proportion originates in music, this series explores visual rhythm and architectural harmony. Each piece becomes a visual composition, and when placed with other Op works, creates a spatial ensemble—rich, layered, and expressive.

Op.17은 르코르뷔지에의 클래식 의자 포퇴유 그랑 콩포르(LC2)에서 영감을 받은 건축적인 안락의자다. 그랑 콩포르는 미니멀한 스틸 파이프 구조 위에 푹신한 쿠션을 얹는 방식으로 완성되며, 구조체는 기둥이 되었다가 등받이를 받치는 보로, 다시 기둥으로 이어지며 바닥에 닿는다.
이러한 구조적 논리를 가구 스케일로 확장해, Op.17은 기둥, 보, 수평판, 벽 같은 건축의 기본 요소들로 뼈대를 구성한다. 각 부재는 못이나 타카 없이 전통적인 짜맞춤 디테일을 재해석해 결합되며, 수작업 도장과 조립을 거쳐 마감된다. 깔끔하고 단단한 외형 안에는 복잡한 구조적 기술과 치밀한 공정이 담겨 있다.
크기는 그랑 콩포르의 프티/그랑 모델을 참조해 1:1 모형으로 인체에 맞춰 조정했고, 구성 요소의 간격과 크기를 세밀하게 설정했다. 팔걸이는 쿠션 없이 노출된 목재 수평판으로 구성해 따뜻한 촉감을 주고, 쿠션은 Cassina와 최대한 유사하도록 거위털과 마이크로파이버로 채워 이탈리아산 소가죽으로 마감했다.
Op 시리즈는 선명한 추상색을 통해 개념을 강조하며, 비례와 조화라는 고전적 아름다움을 시각적으로 풀어낸다. 이름의 ‘Op’는 음악의 작품 번호인 Opus에서 따왔다. 비례의 개념은 음악에서 유래되었고, 이 시리즈의 작업은 건축적 요소들의 비례와 조화로움을 다루고 있기 때문이다. 그래서 결과물은 일종의 시각적 연주곡이 되며, 다른 Op 시리즈와 함께 배치되면 시각적 합주곡이 되어 다채롭고 흥미로운 공간적 분위기를 만들어 낸다.
