Concerto Series

The Concerto series was created through collaboration with VOBIA, a domestic high-end kitchen brand located in Hannam-dong. VOBIA seeks to introduce the process of art into the overall design and realizes high-sensitivity finishing quality through domestic manufacturing. In this collaboration, acrylic and Italian ALPI's wood veneer were experimented with to explore the possibilities of new materials and create a sensuous series with added functionality.

Studio SMA and VOBIA conducted various design studies to apply the wooden joinery details of the Op series to acrylic materials. A corner detail that combines members with different materiality delivers sleekness and appropriate weight was invented. This series was named ‘Concerto’ from classical music.

콘체르토 (Concerto) 시리즈는 한남동 소재의 국내 하이엔드 키친 브랜드인 보비아(VOBIA)와의 협업을 통해 탄생했다. 보비아는 예술의 프로세스를 디자인 전반에 도입하고자 하며 높은 감도의 마감 퀄리티를 국내제조를 통해 구현한다. 이번 협업에서는 아크릴과 이탈리아 알피(ALPI)사의 무늬목을 접목하여 새로운 소재의 가능성들을 탐구하고 기능성을 추가한 감각적인 시리즈를 제작했다. 

Op시리즈의 목조 결구디테일을 아크릴소재에 적용하기 위한 다양한 디자인 스터디를 진행했다. 그리고 현대적인 날렵함과 적절한 무게감을 전달하고, 서로 다른 재료들을 결합하는 코너디테일을 고안했다. 이 시리즈는 협주곡의 의미를 지닌 콘체르토(Concerto)로 명명하였다.
